So,I'm watching the movies "Bright Star" which has the barest whiff of a plot, but the period detail and costumes are gorgeous. Particularly eye catching are some of the sweaters and shawls designed by Sophie Digard.

I'm quite sure I don't have the patience to crochet something like that, but man is it beautiful.

Oh. Oh MY!

For those who enjoy Dr. Horrible and the Buffy musical episode ... (Ahem, LadyPeyton) ... this looks pretty dang cool! I wonder when/if it will be released here.

Eddie Izzard voices Reepicheep! I had no idea! How perfect is that? SO perfect.

I'm wondering if they'll stop the movie series with "Voyage of the Dawn Treader", as I recall the books after that get quite murky, though "The Silver Chair" has always been one of my favorites.

I must say that Daniel Day Lewis deserved that Oscar.  He did a marvelous job of being simultaneously charismatic and repellant. The movie was well scripted and filmed, and I found the score particularly interesting. But, MAN was that a dark dark DARK story.

A combination of two of my favorite things!  The movies that spring to my mind are:

  • Vatel
  • Chocolat
  • Like Water for Chocolate
  • Eat Drink Man Woman
  • Tampopo
  • Babetteā€™s Feast
  • Big Night
  • Mostly Martha
  • Simply Irresistible

Anyone else have some favorites not on my list?

The popularity of "Jaws" aside, I think his performance in "All That Jazz" was really his best.  Who knew he could dance and sing as well as play a drugging megalomaniacal SOB!?!
